WASHINGTON – September 19, 2024 – This month, the Short Line Safety Institute (SLSI) enters its tenth year of operations. Founded in response to the tragic 2013 Lac-Megantic rail accident in Quebec, Canada, SLSI has been working tirelessly since to improve safety culture at short line railroads throughout the United States. To mark its entry into this tenth year, SLSI shares the story of its history and reflects on its work in support of short line railroad industry safety.
